Top Hat and Tuxedo Cake Class

I get a few calls here and there about teaching classes at my shop…. So I decided to try it! I can get about 6 students in the studio, and I had about 5 decorators to sign up  from Tifton GA, Columbus GA, Kennesaw GA and right here in the metro Atlanta area to come over for my first class. I’ve also had some other decorators interested in coming to teach! So keep your eye out!  Wayne and Chuck may come down from Swank Cakes NC, and if Ashley Viscos with Sweet Ashleys’s Cakes of Atlanta ever slows down she’ll come over to teach a class.  Karen Burke is will be teaching an introduction to cake baking, and vegan baking.

Ricky Town with Ricky Town Photography took some photos while we worked.  We had a wonderful time even, finished an hour early.  We plan on getting together again in February for another class.

Now in January I’ll be off to Cake-vacation in LA with the Sweet Southern Ladies, a full week of training from two of the best decorators this side of the Mason Dixon line!  I’ll share the photos from the trip once I’m back and rested up a bit.

Cool Groom’s cake this past weekend!

This week we had a few really cool groom’s cakes!  Myia Primm came over to help me out since my assistant, Renee was visiting with my friend and mentor Minette Rushing of Custom Cakes of Savannah!

Courtney Skeete really wanted something that was all about the groom she requested a 3D basket ball,  3D Jordan Shoe and his favorite watch as his cake.  We did created just what she asked for in all chocolate cake, fondant  and gum paste.

Rodney wanted his groom’s cake to have a musical theme!  So for him we created a 2 tiered chocolate fondant covered cake with music scores all around the sides, sorry it wasn’t a song just random placed notes.

Rhonda’s groom is a Ohio Buckeye fan and that’s what was done for him!  I even found some buckeye candy at Cracker Barrel’s Country Store to add on the sides instead of chocolate covered strawberries!

I went to a wedding!

Every blue moon I will actually attend a wedding AS A GUEST! I usually don’t go but this one I wasn’t going to miss!!! When the beautiful bride, Ebony White Robinson was a little girl, I met her, her little sister and Mother Elaine White Lane the very first time I walked into a Kingdom hall in Savannah GA. This as back in 1991 and they were so sweet from that day forward. Elaine introduced me to Anita Dixon who became my bible study teacher and that began my life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
When I was told Ebony was getting married I asked if I could do the cake as my gift. I’ve watched her grow up from afar and I am so proud of the woman she has become. Vernon is a wonderful young man and loves her with all his heart. How could I not be apart of that!
I was born and raised is Atlanta but I consider Savannah my adult home because that’s where I moved out from grandmother’s home and became a big girl by moving 300 miles away and striking out on my own in a town of complete strangers. That’s why Ebony and her family is so dear to me they didn’t treat me like a stranger but a friend.
